Carol L. Burns, 75, of Westmoreland, KS, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019, at her home around family and friends after many years battling cancer. Carol was born in Manhattan, KS on November 21, 1943, to Lucille (Demmer) and Jess Harold, Jr. She attended Junction City High School and received her GED from Manhattan High School. Later she attended the University of Wisconsin, receiving a certificate to teach preschool to Second Grade. On February 15, 1969, she married William "Pat" Burns in Junction City at the Emanuel Lutheran Church. She was a teacher at the Loving Arms Preschool, at Mt Calvary Lutheran Church in Janesville, WI, for many years. She loved working with children, retiring in 2011. Carol was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Wamego, the American Legion Auxiliary, of Westmoreland, the Service Club in Westmoreland, and a life member of Vietnam Veteran of America Associates Chapter 236 in Janesville. Carol is survived by her husband, Pat Burns; her step daughter, Frankie Jeanine Burns, of North Carolina; her sisters, Mary Clark, of Junction City and Jennie L Harold, also of Junction City; a brother, Ronald Jesse Harold, of Manhattan, KS; two grandchildren, Kyle Jacobson, and Ashley Parker; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Butch Harold and John Raymond Harold. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 14th at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Wamego, KS, the family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:00am, Pastor Jim Price will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Mt Calvary Lutheran Church- Youth Group, 17535 Say Rd Wamego, KS 66547.
