Diana ' Kay' (Whittlesey) Ring of Manhattan, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015, peacefully, at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community. Diana was born in Winfield, on December 10, 1945, she is the daughter of Donald Whittlesey and Gwendolin (Dozer) Whittlesey, of Manhattan. Diana graduated high school in Lawrence in 1964, she received a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics and Fine Arts from Kansas State University. She was a homemaker and was previously employed as an assistant with Telenet at Kansas State University, for 13 years. Kay was a member of the Konza Prarie Quilt Guild, Prarie Star Quilt Guild, KGA, AQA, and Kansas Art Quilter Organization. On February 8, 1969, Kay married David Ring in Lawrence, and he survives of the home, two sons, Bryan S. (Andrea) Ring, of Kansas City, Missouri and Dustin B. Ring, of Manhattan; her parents, Donald and Gwendolin Whittlesey, of Manhattan; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Alexandria, and Ashleigh Ring, of Manhattan; and a brother, Lynn Whittlesey of Manhattan. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Monday March 16, 2015 at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Manhattan with Fr. Patrick Funston officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Southeast of Manhattan. The family suggest donations to the Meadowlark Hills Parkinson's Foundation and the Good Shepherd Hospice House sent in care of the funeral home.
