Janice Ellen Coffee, 79, of Manhattan, KS, passed away, of ovarian cancer on Tuesday, March 15th, at Via Christi Village. Manhattan. She was a retired elementary teacher. Janice was born in Lawrence on December 15, 1936, the daughter of the late Arden and Alice (Rarrick) Clawson. On June 25, 1971, Janice Ellen Clawson and Guy Coffee were united in marriage at the in Manhattan. She and Guy are members of First Presbyterian Church in Manhattan since 1983. She graduated high school from Linwood, KS, as a youth she was very active in 4-H and in showing animals at the fairs. Janice attended college at the University of Kansas and worked for the college in scheduling. She received her teaching degree from Kansas State University and worked as a teacher in the enrollment office. She taught 3rd grade in Junction City for eight years at the Washington Elementary School, and was a substitute teacher in Manhattan. Janice was also a member of NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness). Janice is survived by her husband; Guy Coffee of the home; a daughter, Caryn Davidson and husband James, of Red Oak, Texas ; and a son,Tom Coffee, of St. Paul, Minnesota . Janice is also survived by, a brother, Eldon Clawson and his wife Marlene, of Wakarusa, Kansas. She is also survived by two grandsons; Brandon J. and Ayden M. Davidson. Friends are invited to call on Fri. March 18, 2016 from 6pm-8pm with family present at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation 1317 W. Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas. A graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00am the West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka, on I-70 Hwy.
