Kay N. Kintner, 82, of Manhattan, passed away Sunday, October 15th, at the Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Kay N. Woodward was born in Junction City, on April 4, 1935, the daughter of the late Frank and Ella (Hebert) Woodward. She graduated from the Junction City High School in 1954; she attended and graduated from Washburn University with a BA Degree in Education. In 1955 she was married to Gaylon Kintner, in Junction City. Kay was a retired English teacher, teaching in Florida, Turkey and Alaska while Gaylon was in the Air Force with the JAG (Judge Advocate General's Corps) while on active duty. Together they resided in Europe, the Middle East and Alaska enjoying the sights. Kay was also a former member of the Order of Easter Star, Daughters of the American Revolution and Delta Gamma Sorority. In 1955 Kay was crowned Miss Junction City and that same year she was a runner-up in the Miss Kansas Pageant. Survivors include her husband, Gaylon, of the home; her daughter, Kristine W. Breck, of Alta Vista; her son, Kurt Kintner, of Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Debra (Steven) Meyers, of Ft. Worth, Texas; Fay (John) Crow, of Columbia, Missouri; brother, Dennis (Dorothy) Woodward, of Dayton, Ohio and a granddaughter, Amber (Jeff) Logsdon, Kansas City, Kansas. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation in Manhattan, KS with Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating. The graveside service will be at 12:00 pm at the Frankfort City Cemetery, Frankfort, with Rev. Jim Akins officiating at the graveside. The family requests any donations be directed to the Shriner's Children Hospital and may be sent to the funeral home.
