Kerwin Kent “Corky” Crabs, 90, passed away on May 21, 2015 in Manhattan, Kansas. He was born on January 31, 1925 in Manchester Kansas. His parents were Clayton and Irene (Wolfe) Crabs of Manchester Kansas. Corky was a proud veteran of WW II serving in the Navy. 'Corky', as he is known to most people, leaves behind his wife, Laura Crabs, of Manhattan, a son, Lonnie and his wife, Melinda of Prescott, Arizona, daughters Kathy Love of Manhattan, Sue Hofmann of Wamego, and Cheryl Wills of Kansas City, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren. His parents, sister Claona Sevick and daughter, Connie Cannada, preceded him in death He was well known as the manager of the lunch counter at Duckwalls’ in Manhattan for 27 years, and then moved on to ALCO as the manager of the sporting goods department. After retirement, he worked at KSU in the Grain Science Department and drove lease vehicles for Briggs Auto across the county for a short time. He ended his work career by volunteering, along with his wife, Laura, for Meals on Wheels at the senior center for 18-years, delivering not only the food, but his million dollar smile. He was a member of the Christ Church in Manhattan. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Isis Shrine of Salina and the American Legion. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and his smile, love, humor and generosity will live forever. He was a resident of Stoneybrook for the past 1 years and recently his care was provided by The Hospice House in Manhattan. The family is grateful to both Stoneybrook and The Hospice House for his care. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, 1317 W. Poyntz Ave, with burial following at the White Cloud Cemetery in Manchaster, KS.
