On Monday, January 7th, 2019, Myrna Hona Filion, loving mother of three passed away peacefully after a difficult battle with breast cancer at the age of 61. Myrna was born on October 31, 1957, in Manila, Philippines to Rizalina Hona and Estelito Tevar. She has a sister Merlinda. She raised three children Richmond, Maryjane, and Meredith. Myrna has 8 grandchildren, along with two nephews and one niece. She never met anyone who wasn't instantly her friend. She was known for her infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit. Which showed in the thousands of cards she painted and wrote for the troops during Christmas time. Her servant's heart called to her to do all things through Christ, our savior which included volunteering at the Via Christi Church, speaking to nursing students, and participating in the Barrier Free drama program at K-state. Myrna had a passion for all things art related, singing, dancing, and her greatest love was painting; even in her paralysis was still able to create extraordinary art. She enjoyed keeping everyone on their toes and eating Oreos. She has elected to donate her body to KU medical in hopes of advancing research for Guillain Barre Syndrom (GBS) and breast cancer. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to leave a kind memory for her family or a donation to the Manhattan Art Center or the Via Christi Village Chapel. A Service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2018, at 1:30 PM at the Via Christi Village Chapel. A small gathering will be held afterward in the Konza Room of Via Christi Village.
