Alice Elizabeth Jones Alice Elizabeth Jones, 97, of Manhattan, died Friday, January 27th, at Good Shepherd Hospice House. Alice Elizabeth Steiner was born in Lafayette, Indiana on February 15, 1914, the daughter of the late Barbara (Steill) and Louis Steiner. She was a homemaker and a secretary for the America Farm Research Association with the Indiana Farm Bureau from 1944-1946. On June 27, 1944 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette, Indiana, she married Harold Eugene Jones, who preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1987. Alice had formerly lived in Lafayette, Indiana and St. Paul, Minnesota. She was a member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Altar Society, Circle #3, National Right To Life Community, Inc., KSU Social Club, and also was a cofounder of Birthright of Manhattan and was with them for over 20 years. Alice graduated from St. Francis High School in Lafayette, Indiana in 1932. In July of 1946, she and Harold moved to Manhattan from Lafayette, they then moved back to Lafayette in 1948 to 1949 where he attended Purdue for 2 years. In 1949, they moved to St. Paul Minnesota while Harold was doing research as a soil specialist from 1949-1956 and in 1956, they moved back to Manhattan. Survivors include two sons Dennis A. Jones, of Manhattan and Ronald H. Jones, and his fianc Heather J. Warden, of Annandale, Virginia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Catherine E. Jones, of Bowling Green, Kentucky& Anna T. Jones, of Clarksville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Allan Jones on August 5, 1994; 4 brothers, Raymond C. Steiner, Robert M. Steiner, Harold Steiner at 3 years of age and Joseph Steiner in 1998; 2 sisters, Marie M. Steiner in 1958 and Kathleen L. Williams in 1983. Friends are invited to call Tuesday, February 2, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. A parish vigil will be recited at 7:00 pm, at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 2nd, at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Manhattan, with Father Joseph Popelka officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
