Brian Keith Johnson, 49, of Manhattan, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Mercy Regional Health Center. Brian Keith Johnson (aka Keeby, Chumbley, BJ Dingo, Big Man, Deacon Johnson, Coach B, etc.) was born on July 20, 1963 in Tulsa, OK. Born into a tight knit family, they laugh loudlyand intensely love one another. Brian was the middle child and maintained close relationships with his 4 siblings. He graduated from East Central High School (Tulsa) in 1981. During his senior year, he became an employee of the Department of the Army (Corp of Engineers) under the 'Stay in School Program'.He went on to attend Southwest Automotive School (OKC, OK) and received his certification as a Mechanic in 1982. Brian immediately returned to Tulsa, OK and was rehired by the Corp of Engineers, he experienced reassignments, consolidations and position terminations. In 1996 he was relocated to Fort Riley, Kansas with the Southwest Region where he worked in various divisions. Up until the day of his untimely death, he worked with Defense Contract Management Agency Division. In September of 1988 in front of God, friends and family Brian officially devoted his life to Regina.They in turn had 3 sons - Brian II, Thomas and Terrale. He LOVED his wife and boys, he was a great husband, provider, father, leader and a strong man of God.Brian and Regina took Manhattan, KS by storm, in addition to doing work in the community, he really wanted his boys to come to learn and serve God.In leading by example, he dedicated his life to the Lord (Pilgrim Baptist), he was all about doing the Lords work. Brian was ordained as a Deacon at Pilgrim Baptist in 1999 and continued to proudly serve as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee and Sunday School Teacher. Not only was he a big man physically, he had a bigger personality.Brian's left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to meet him. His Jaguars youth football team in addition to the responsibilities he enjoyed as a Manhattan High School football parent all held a special place in his heart. He leaves to cherish his memory, Wife: Regina, Sons: Brian II, Thomas and Terrale. Father: Charles Johnson-Kansas City Brother: Thomas Jaha (Linda)-OKC, OK Sister: Melanie Farley (Fred)-Arlington, TX, Sister: Charlotte Johnson-Tampa Fl, Brother: Charles Johnson Jr (Diana) - Arlington, TX, Maternal Aunt: Marsie Simpson-Tulsa, host of paternal uncles and aunts as well as a host of very special cousins, brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews. Brian is preceded in death by his mother Tommye Ella Johnson (1990).
