Charles Ralph (Charlie) Toothman, 78, of Junction City, passed away Sunday morning, June 18th, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. He went to high school in Augusta, KS and joined the US Army shortly afterward. During his time in the military, he worked as a mechanic and retired after 20 years of service, as a proud Vietnam Veteran. Upon leaving the military, he continued to work as a mechanic for a local wrecker service in Junction City for 40 years. Charlie was a proud member of the VFW Post 8773.
Charlie was born in Lyons, Kansas on August 23, 1944, the son of the late Marjorie Ruth (Miller) and William Edward Toothman. In June of 1967, he married Shirley Bartlett (Brough) of Radcliff, KY. They were married for 21 years and had 2 daughters. In December of 1992, he married Julie Parks of Clinton, MO. They were married for 30 years and had 3 children together. Charlie deeply loved his family, spending quality time with them. He enjoyed fishing and camping with friends and family in his free time. He also enjoyed spur of the moment road trips, having recently traveled thru Mississippi, following along the “Blues Trail” highway.
Charlie is survived by his wife , Julie (Parks) Toothman of the home; four daughters, Katrina and husband Kyle Davis, of Spanaway, WA; Penny and husband Al Fink, of Elkhorn, NE; Lacey and husband Carl Temple, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Emily Toothman and partner Will Hammel, of Circle Pines, MN; a son, Casey Toothman and wife Kendall Reinecker, of Junction City, KS. Charlie is also survived by a sister, Marjorie Ann Toothman, of Boise, ID. He is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William (Bill) Toothman, and James Toothman, and his sister: Betty Connor; and his ex-wife, Shirley Bartlett (Brough).
A graveside inurnment memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 26th, 2023 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Manhattan, KS with full military honors.
