Donald Lee Clagett, 88, of Manhattan, passed away on Monday, January 8th, 2018 at Stonybrook Retirement Community. He was an Electronics Salesman and Repairman at Kansas State University- Acker-Biology for 10 years and Bird Music before that. Donald was born in Clifton, KS on July 17, 1929, to Verda (Rogers) and Alvin Clagett. He grew up in Clifton and graduated from Clifton High School before attending Manhattan Bible College for 2 years in religious education. He was a member of First Christian Church in Manhattan, He was a Life Elder and Sunday School teacher for many years. Donald was also a member of United Commercial Travelers, Rebekah Lodge, The Odd Fellows, A Troop Leader for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, National Model Railroad Association, and Manhattan Area Rail Joiner. Donald is survived by; a daughter, Verleta (Douglas) Myers, of Manhattan, Kansas; a son, Carlyle (Linda) Clagett, of Emmett, Kansas, seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Beta Lea who passed away on July 7, 2006. A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Christian Church on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 11:00 am. The family request donations to First Christian Church Manhattan, and may be sent to the church or funeral home. Inurnment will take place at future date at the Valley View Memorial Gardens- Manhattan.
