Dorothy J. Frazee, age 88, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away January 29, 2019 after a brief stay at Bramlage House in the Meadowlark Hills retirement community in which she resided for the past 7 ½ years. Dorothy was born on March 29, 1930 in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. Her parents were Ruth (Richardson) Love and Harry A. Love. She married Donald W. Frazee (Pawnee County, Nebraska) on June 1, 1950 in Houghton, Michigan. Dorothy and Don had two sons Mark and Bryan. The family lived in Tarkio, Missouri until Don died on June 4, 1956. After Don’s death, Dorothy moved to Houghton, Michigan to be near her parents and raise her two boys. When her mother died and her father became ill, she and the boys moved to Garden Grove California in 1971 to be near her sister Helen Shortridge. While raising her two sons, Dorothy worked her way up from nurse’s aid to licensed vocational nurse and finally registered nurse in a hospital cardiac care unit in Anaheim, California. Her hard work and devotion allowed both of her sons to complete college and graduate from law school in California. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and taking cruises throughout America and to many countries with her sister Helen and her husband and other friends. Dorothy moved to Manhattan and the Meadowlark Hills retirement community in June 2011 when her son Mark decided to retire there to live in a smaller community and to be near relatives in Summerfield, Kansas. She was grateful for the warm welcome she received and the friendships she developed there. Survivors include: her son Mark Frazee (Andrea) of Manhattan, Kansas, granddaughters Rebecca Frazee Spongberg (James) of Huntington Beach, California and Rachel Frazee Schutt (Mathew), great-granddaughter Lillian Schutt of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; her son Bryan Frazee (Carol), granddaughters Amy Frazee and Hannah Frazee of Glendora, California; and sister Helen Shortridge of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Memorials may be made to the Meadowlark Hills Good Samaritan Fund.
