Edith L Thompson, 88, of Manhattan, passed away Tuesday, September 16th, at her residence. Edith was born in Garrison, Kansas on February 25, 1926, to the late Julia (Roush) and Edmond Kilner. Edith was united in marriage to Martin Thompson who precedes her in death. She worked as an office manager at Bayer Construction in Manhattan. She was very involved with the Riley County Genealogical Society and taught school for 2 years in Wabaunsee County. She loved to travel and paint. She is survived by a daughter, Peggy (Nicholas) Edvy, of Manhattan; a son, Neal Thompson, of Manhattan; a sister Donna (Jim) Lovegren of Manhattan; a brother Wayne (Rita) Kilner of Manhattan; and a granddaughter Elizabeth Gabriel Edvy. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband Martin Thompson, brothers Lloyd Kilner, Ralph Kilner, Lawrence Kilner, George Kilner and sisters Vivian Dibble and Elsie Mitchem. Friends are invited to call from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on Monday, September 22 at the funeral home. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at Sunrise Cemetery, 2901 Stagg Hill Rd, at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 23.
