Frances C Schurle, 99, of Manhattan and Keats passed away Wednesday, January 4th, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House. Frances Schurle, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Cecilia J. (Matous) Srna was born August 27, 1917 in Lincoln County, 6 miles west of Barnard, KS and graduated from the Milo School, she later moved to Beloit and worked at the Beloit Theater and at the Gamble Store. On Nov. 8, 1957 she married Harold Schurle of Manhattan at the St. John's Parish in Beloit, and made their home west of Manhattan. Frances was employed at Norton's Drugs for a year and a half, then with the Tempo Discount Store for 7 years until their closing, when she started at the Alco Store and was there for 25 years in their shoes and clothing material department. When Frances retired she spent the rest of her days with her husband, Harold, until his death in September of 1999. Survivors include Eydie Foltz, her longtime care giver, of Manhattan and many nieces and nephews. Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her parents, two brothers, Frank Srna and Andrew Srna; 5 sisters, Elsie Hiserote, Josephine Eiler, Beatrice Duvall, Orphie Daughterty, Darlene Dill and Cecilia Snyder. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 8:00PM. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 11th at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation in Manhattan, with burial following in the Riley Cemetery in Riley, KS.
