Gail E. Catalan Gail E. Catalan, 76, of Manhattan passed away at Tuesday, November 5th, at the Baptist Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas. Gail Holiday was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on March 27, 1937, the daughter of the late Elizabeth C. (Almond) Thompson and James E. Holiday, Sr. Gail grew up in Portsmouth, Rhode Island and New Port, Rhode Island and attended Catherine Academy High School, New Port, Rhode Island where she graduated in 1955. On July 2, 1955 in Middletown, Rhode Island , she was united in marriage to Gaston Catalan, Jr. and they lived in Germany, France, Ft. Benning, GA, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and Fort Riley, Kansas while Gus was in the service. She was a dispatcher at Fort Riley for many years; a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan, a life member V.F.W. Auxiliary and AARP. Gail is also survived by her daughter, Robin Catalan, of San Antonio, Texas; grandson, Anthony Sharpe and wife Kristy, and two great-grandchildren, Curtis & Anitia Sharpe and a brother, James, husband of Elizabeth Holiday, Jr., of Riverton, Rhode Island. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gaston who died on Dec. 8, 2012 and a brother, Charles Holiday. At the family's request there will be no visitation as cremation has been chosen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, in Manhattan at 10:00 am on Friday, November 15th, with Father Joe Popelka officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 731 Pierre Manhattan, KS 66502 or the donor's choice.
