John (Giovanni) Battista Enea, 89, died May 16, 2018, at Wroten House, Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan, KS. John was born November 15, 1928, to Giovanni and Giovanna (Pastorella) Enea, in Newark, NJ. He graduated from Central High School in 1946. On May 6, 1950, John wed Patricia Ann Klappholz. After attending Union Junior College and Newark College of Engineering (now the New Jersey Institute of Technology), John was awarded his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1969. He subsequently was certified as a Professional Engineer. During his career, John worked in the cosmetics industry for diverse companies including Caryl Richards, Rayette, the Mennen Company, Elizabeth Arden, and Fabergé, retiring as Corporate Director of Engineering. Work allowed him to travel throughout the US, Mexico, and several European countries, fueling an expansive curiosity about world events. Upon retirement, John and Pat moved to Jacksonville, FL, where he became a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, District 7, JAX Beach Flotilla 14-4. During his tenure, John manned operational patrols, was a training instructor and served as Secretary of the flotilla. In June 2004 he was a member of the naval security detail for the 30th G-8 summit hosted by President George W. Bush at Sea Island, GA. John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank and Peter Enea, sister Anna Tribuna, son-in-law Donald J. Adamchak, and wife of 56 years, Patricia. He is survived by one sister, Antonia Mocharski of Piscataway, NJ, daughter Susan Adamchak (John Heritage) of Manhattan, KS, and son John Enea (Katherine Newmann) of Whippany, NJ. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. No funeral is planned; family will gather for a memorial luncheon at a future date.
