Gwendolyn E. Stevenson died February 23, 2014 in Andover, Kansas. She had lived in Wichita since 2006. She was born December 11, 1914 in Washington County, Kansas. Her parents were Emamuel and Edith (Peterson) Erickson. Gwen recieved her elementary education at Macotte Rural Grade School. She was gradudated from Clyde High School in 1932. She attended Kansas State University from September 1934 until June 1935. For over twenty years she was employed by the Fedaral Government. The first agency was the Kansas State Office of the Agricultural Adjustment Adminstration. Later she worked at the correctional facility at Fort Riley. She was married to James R. Stevenson on November 1, 1941. To this union a daughter, Margaret Gwen, was born. Her husband preceded her in death November 16, 1986. Her older sister, Clarice Barger, also precded her in death. Mrs. Stevenson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Manhattan. She was a resident of Manhattan for most of her life. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Raymond of Wichita; two granddaughters, Alicia Raymond of Wichita and Gwen Raymond of San Diego; sister Geneva Denholm of Manhattan; and a brother, Lloyd (Vivian) Erickson of Clyde, Kansas. Memorial services will be taking place at the First Presbyterian Church on February 28, 2014 at 2:00pm with Reverand Zach Morton offciating. Inunrnment will be in rural Clay County at the Republican City Cemetery at a later date. Service are conducted by Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation.
