Harry Dean Brockish Harry Dean Brockish, 79, of Manhattan, passed away on Saturday, February 27th, at Stormont-Vail Medical Center, Topeka, following a brief illness. He was employed by Kansas State University Housing Department for over 37 years, retiring as a painting supervisor in 1999. Harry was born in Westmoreland, on February 8, 1937, the son of the late Josephine Mary (Sable) and Oscar F. Brockish. He attended the Pottawatomie County School District and worked for several years for Daylor Motors in Wamego as a mechanic and body shop technician, before moving to Manhattan. He was a property owner and landlord in the Manhattan, Saint George and Wamego communities for many years. He was united in marriage to Natalie W. Kent on Oct. 8, 1971, and they shared a love for traveling and spending time with family and friends. A self-taught handyman, he enjoyed “tinkering” on automobiles, fixing appliances and heating/cooling systems. Other hobbies included hunting trips with friends. Harry was a member of the Eagles Lodge #1964, American Legion Post #1786, Manhattan Land Lords Association, Kansas Farm Bureau and the Kansas Association of Public Employees. He and Natalie were active members of the Riley County Democratic Party and advocates for the rights of state workers. Harry is survived by three daughters, Lynn Beier, (Steve) of Manhattan; Barbara Crismas, (Alan) Richmond, KS; Arlene Tisdale, (George) of Manhattan; two sons Lee Miller and Glenn Miller both of Topeka; a sister, Rita Kilner (Wayne) Manhattan; brother, Robert Brockish, of Manhattan; step brothers, Robert Joe Creviston, York, PA; Elmer Creviston, Tucson AZ; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Pepper Oxndaburu. He is preceded in death by his wife, Natalie, his parents, and two brothers, Donald Brockish and William Brockish; stepbrothers, James Creviston, Orville (Junior) Creviston and a step sister, Grace Morris. Visitation with the family present Friday March 4, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation, 1317 W. Poyntz Ave. On Saturday, March 5th at 10:00am, a funeral service will be held at the funeral home with Rev. Kati Collins of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Wamego.
