Helen Louise James Brosius, age 96, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, in Manhattan, KS. She was born on August 22, 1921, in Kensington, Maryland, the 7th of 13 children, to Raymond Rodney James and Henrietta Marshall French. She graduated from Western High School in the Washington D.C./Georgetown area. On July 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to Bertram Schaeffer Brosius. They raised one son, Tom, and one daughter, Ann, in Silver Spring, MD. Helen worked for Group Hospitalization in Washington D.C. for 5 years and for the C & P Telephone Company for two years. After living in the Washington, D.C. area for 60 years, Helen and Bert moved to Sun City Arizona, in 1982. While there she enjoyed volunteering at the hospital. In 2004, after Bert was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, they move to Manhattan, KS to live with their son, Tom and his wife Karen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bert; four sisters and six brothers. She is survived by her son, Tom Brosius and his wife Karen of Manhattan, KS; her daughter, Ann Leach, and her husband, Doug, of South Lake Tahoe, CA; two granddaughters, Andra Schroeder, and her husband Aaron of Manhattan, KS and LeAnn Brosius of Manhattan, KS; one great-grandson, Ethan Schroeder; one sister, Elda Marmaduke and one brother, Preston James of the Washington D.C. area.
