Janet Karen Phillippi, 60, of Manhattan, passed away Saturday, December 2nd, at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. Janet was born in Lynwood, California on March 2, 1957, the daughter of Betty (Giesbrecht) Ullner and the late Gustav Ullner. She graduated from Mark Keppel High School in 1976; and attended college at Humboldt State, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (where she met her future husband Don), and Cal Poly Pomona. On March 22, 1980, Janet Ullner and Don Phillippi were married at the United Methodist Church in San Gabriel, California. When Janet first arrived in Manhattan, she did CAD drafting for Manko Window Systems and later for John Donaldson Construction and Craig Kouri architect. Janet was a volunteer at the Milford Nature Center, a docent and member of Friends of the Konza Prairie, a volunteer at Tallgrass Prairie and made blankets for the Project Linus and Binkie Patrol. Janet is survived by her Husband, Don; her Mother, Betty Ullner of Pasadena; her Brother, Mike Ullner also of Pasadena, California; her Aunt Evelyn Harris of South Carolina, her many cousins, and her father-in-law, Bert Phillippi of Orlando, Florida. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 10th at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation in Manhattan, and December 16, 2017 from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary in Whittier, California. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 1:00PM. The family requests any donations be directed to the Friends of Milford Nature Center 3415 Hatchery Drive Junction City, Kansas 66441. Arrangements have been entrusted to Irvin-Parkview, Manhattan.
