Johanna M. Estes Johanna Mary Estes, 93, of Overland Park, formerly of Ogden, passed away at her residence. She was retired from the McCall Pattern Co. in Manhattan. Johanna Kanngiesser was born in New Haven, MO on April 9, 1920, the daughter of the late Karl Joseph and Elisabeth (Held) Kanngiesser. She was a graduate of Amsterdam High School in Amsterdam, MO. She was united in marriage on Jan. 8,1945 in Salina, KS to John C Estes, who died on Jan. 10, 1999. She was a member of Parkerville Baptist Church, White City, KS. In 2002 received Random Act of Kindness Award. Johanna is survived by a step son, Kenneth H, Estes and wife Kathi, of Montesano, WA. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren (Carolyn Lynn Knowles , Maracus Guthrie, Richard Duane Estes, John Edward Estes, Teresa Marie Leland, Steven John Estes, Kenneth Dewayne Estes) and10 great-grandchildren (Amber Leland, Jacob Estes, Justin Estes, Kayla Estes, Matthew Estes, Chris Knowles, Marcus Guthrieand Blair Field) and a sister, Mary Buckles, of Independence, MO. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, John; step sons, Arnold Mitchell Estes and Earl Dewayne Estes; sisters Gertrude Johanna Kanngiesser, Helen Rita Sturm; brother, Ignatius Adolph Kanngiesser; and a grandson, Bryan Wayne Estes. A memorial service will be held at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, Manhattan, at 1:00pm on Tuesday, August 20th, with Rev. Bob Strom officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at the Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan. The family request donations to Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Avenue Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
