JOSEPH M. REILLY Joseph Matthew Reilly passed away, surrounded by family and friends, on December 23, 2016 at The Piper Assisted Living and Memory Care Center in Kansas City, KS, at the age of 63. Joe was born August 5, 1953 in Borger, Texas, one of six children born to parents Robert Carl Reilly (deceased), and Cora Margaret (Komac) Reilly, of Tulsa, OK. He was raised in Bartlesville, OK and Wichita, KS and graduated from Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Wichita in1971. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 59th Ordnance Brigade in Pirmasens, Germany. Joe lived in Wichita for most of his adult life and was the co-owner and President of Baka Corp. and co-founder and President of Isodyne, Inc., in Wichita. Joe held numerous patents in the field of aeronautics with both commercial and military defense applications and made his career in the sale of electrical components and military contract design services. Joe was married to Brenda Lynn Reed from 1976 to 2004. They had three children together. After their marriage ended they continued to operate their businesses together until his death. On November 18, 2006 Joe married Sharon Wright Kellstrom in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Joe was an avid and accomplished golfer and scuba diver, who enjoyed traveling and diving all over the world. He had a great love of family and friends and was known as a true gentleman with unlimited patience, generosity, and concern for others. His sense of humor, youthful spirit, companionship and love will be sorely and deeply missed by many. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon, and stepdaughter Margaret R. Kellstrom, of their home in Manhattan, KS, daughter Melissa L. Reilly (R. Edward Dumit), Charleston, SC, son Joseph Nathan Reilly (Ashley), Wichita, daughter Jacqueline M. Freed (Michael), Wichita, and 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Cottom (David), Owasso, OK, Patrick Reilly (Jill), Maize, KS, Robert Reilly (Twyla), Skiatook, OK, Richard Reilly (Janet), Bartlesville, and Edward Reilly (Stefan Matthaeus), Portland, OR. Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. and funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Manhattan, followed by internment at the Sunset Cemetery, and a celebration of life gathering at Harry’s Restaurant in Manhattan, immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to his memorial established with the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation- GMCF, Joseph M. Reilly Memorial for Alzheimer’s/ Dementia Research, 555 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, KS. 66502.
