Lee William Dalrymple

July 27, 1962 — February 20, 2015

Lee William Dalrymple, 52, was born July 27, 1962 at the Valley Forge General Hospital in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. He passed away on Fri., February 20, 2015 at the Onaga Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther Mae and Lt Col. Lester Roy Dalrymple; a sister, Daniela (Nia) Dalrymple; and one nephew, Joshua Dalrymple. Surviving are three sisters and one brother, Alice Kathleen Jones and husband David of Ecuador, South America; Michael Roy Dalrymple and wife Linda of Fort Collins, Colorado; Sharon McCaffrey and husband Michael of Wamego, Kansas; and Carol Klataske and husband Ron of Manhattan. Also surviving are eleven nieces and nephews, 18 great nieces and nephews and 9 great, great nieces and nephews. The Dalrymple family moved from Pennsylvania to Kansas when Lee was one month old. Lee's education was through the Manhattan Public Schools Special Education programs. He was a happy child and a cheerful adult who made friends easily. He was a loving member of his family, teaching all the rewards of compassion and caring for others. Lee loved animals, TV, and music, especially country and gospel music. He was a member of First Christian Church. Lee participated in such activities as Barrier-Free Theater sponsored by KSU Drama Department and Special Olympics for many years. His string of participation ribbons and medals, particularly in bowling, was quite extensive. Lee also enjoyed traveling and going to K-State football games. Lee was a resident of Big Lakes Developmental Center and lived most of his adult life in a BLDC group home. He eventually moved to Westmoreland Community Care Home in Westmoreland, KS. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation for all the great care Lee was given by these organizations. Services for Lee Dalrymple will be held on Monday, March 2 at 10:00 am at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home and Cremation. Memorial Contributions may be made to Big Lakes Developmental Center.
