Lila Foster

September 18, 1918 — April 26, 2018

Lila Robertson Foster, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully April 26, 2018 in Wichita. She was born on September 18, 1918 on a farm near Manchester, Ks and spent her youth there, attending a one room school house. Her parents were Ewan “Pat” Henderson Robertson and Emma Dieffenbaugh Robertson, and her sister was Twila Robertson Whitley. For high school she boarded during the week in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1937. Last year she and a fellow resident of her assisted living home who had coincidentally reconnected there and discovered that they were classmates of the Abilene HS Class of 1937 celebrated their 80th high school reunion together. Lila married Guy Everett Foster in Abilene in 1940, and after his service in WWII they resided in Abilene until 1950 when they moved to Manhattan, making it their permanent home. Guy was a contractor and Lila was happily a homemaker, wife, and mother to their only child, Jayne. She enjoyed interior decoration, modern art, shopping, but most of all devoted herself to her family. Guy and Lila celebrated their 70th anniversary on October 17, 2010. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Guy, in 2010, her parents, her sister, and her nephew, Winston Whitley. She is survived by her daughter Jayne Foster Peterson and husband David; four grandsons: Alec Jackson Foster, Caleb Jackson and wife Julia, Seth Jackson and wife Stefanie, all of the Kansas City area, and Nathan Jackson of Everett, WA; five great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Millie, Sawyer, Sage, and Laura Jackson; three step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews of many generations. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 5 at 2:00 at Irvin Parkview Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 7829 E.
