Linda Lou Kidd, a cherished member of her community, left this world on November 14, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi in Manhattan, Kansas. Born on March 3, 1949, Linda’s life was defined by her unwavering spirit, her love for connection, and her adoration for all things furry.
Linda dedicated a remarkable three decades of her life to Dillons, where she thrived in her role working with people. Her infectious smile and warm nature made her a beloved fixture among both coworkers and customers alike; she truly didn’t know a stranger. She effortlessly struck up conversations with anyone she met, always sharing a laugh or a kind word. It is said that her proudest accomplishment was the enduring friendships she formed during her years of service.
Outside of her career, Linda had a profound love for animals. She spent countless hours playing with them, and her fondness extended to visiting zoos, where she marveled at the wonders of the animal kingdom. Her home was a welcoming haven for all creatures, and her heart swelled with joy any time she had the opportunity to be with them.
In her leisure time, Linda found delight in watching her beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals, her passion for sports bringing her excitement and connection to her family and friends. She also found joy in simpler pastimes, enjoying word searches—so much so that she made it a habit to pick up every puzzle book she could find from the Dollar Tree. She was also a strong believer in angels.
Linda’s legacy will live on through her loving husband, Robert Kidd, who stood by her side, and her two sons, Brian Kidd of Central City, Missouri, and Jeff Spinner of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Helen Burkhead and Carolyn Thompson, both of Mexico, Missouri. The love and support of this family helped shape Linda into the remarkable person we all knew and loved.
Though her mother, father, two brothers, and one sister have preceded her in death, Linda’s memory is forever etched in the hearts of those she touched. She is profoundly missed and will be remembered for her warmth, her love for animals, and her ability to see the good in everyone. Linda Lou Kidd reminded us of the beauty of connections—both human and animal—and her spirit will continue to inspire.
