Loretta J. Swart, 90, of Manhattan, KS, passed away on May 14, 2019. Loretta was born on June 8, 1928, to Henrietta Alta (Davey) and George Oscar Giles. She married Kenneth Swart on June 15, 1946, and with him had six children. She loved spending time with her family. Her walls were covered with collected plates brought to her from all over the world. She was an avid gardener and made homemade salsa with homegrown produce. She could sit for hours and watch the Redbirds and hummingbirds flying around her flowers. Loretta is survived by her daughter, Janice(John)Pride, of Manhattan, KS; her four sons Kenneth(Donna)Swart, of Topeka,KS, Robert(Cheri)Swart, of South Dakota,William(Debbie)Swart, of Manhattan, KS, and Rodney Swart Kansas City, KS, nine Grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and a sister Peggy Giles. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, a son Ronald, grandson Jeffrey, and nine brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations made to Home Care and Hospice of Manhattan Visitation will be held Friday, May 17, 2019, at 1:00 PM at Carlson's Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, a Graveside ceremony will be held immediately after at Sunset Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Carlson's Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home and Cremation.
