Margaret Lucille Heptig, 85, of Manhattan, and formerly of the Flush Community, passed away Saturday, October 3rd, at Via Christi Hospital- Manhattan. Margaret Lucille (Manor) Heptig was born in Junction City, Kansas on January 12, 1930, the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Mackey) Manor. She was raised from an infant by her aunt and uncle, Lawrence & Katie Horigan in Wheaton, KS. Lucille graduated from Wheaton High School in 1948. On April 20, 1949 in Wheaton, KS she was united in marriage to Pat Heptig. He died on April 13, 1990. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Flush, Kansas, Flush Altar Society, a homemaker, she had also worked at the Farrell Library at KSU; Westy Community Care Home, Westmoreland; Flush Store, as the co-owner; became a CNA from Manhattan Area Technical College and worked at St. Mary's Hospital in the Surgery/Recovery Department. Lucille is survived by her 6 daughters, Sue, wife of Lee Clark, St. George; Kathy, wife of Don Herde, Manhattan; Debbie, wife of Bob Brennan, Smithville, MO; Mary Anderson, Manhattan; Lisa, wife of Shannon Wright, Wamego; Amy, wife of Landon Wranosky, Shawnee, KS; seven sons Patrick Heptig, Manhattan; Mike, husband of Diane Heptig, Flush; Larry, husband of Torrie Heptig, Topeka; Bob, husband of Kayla Heptig, Flush; Ed, husband of Brenda Heptig, Flush; Kevin, husband of Daisy Heptig, Flush; Todd Heptig, Wichita; also by 35 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Lucille was preceded in death by her birth parents, husband Pat, parents Lawrence & Katie Horigan; 4 sisters, Mary Lofton, Helen Besack, Kathryn Bammer & Louise Templeman; a grandson, Matthew Heptig; and a great granddaughter Olivia Marie Anderson. On Tues. Oct. 6, 2015 , the family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, with a rosary recited at 7:00pm at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am, on Wed. Oct. 7, 2015, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Flush. Burial will follow immediately at the church cemetery.
