Margaret Y. Walker Margaret Yzerman Walker, 91, of Manhattan, passed away Saturday, August 6th, at Via Christi Health Center- Manhattan. She was a retired Assistant Professor of Music at Kansas State University in Manhattan. Margaret was born in Sunnyside, WA on November 24, 1924, the daughter of the late Helena (Hettler) and Anthony Yzerman. She was united in marriage on Dec. 7, 1945 in Seattle, WA. to Warren Vincent Walker who preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 2006. Margaret had a Bachelor of Music degree and obtained a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Texas Christian University. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Manhattan; P.E.O. Chapter FK in Manhattan; and Alpha Delta Pi sorority. During her retirement years, Margaret was an avid reader, knitter, and bridge player. Margaret is survived by two daughters, Susan Cross, of Boulder, CO; Wendy (Dusty) Moshier, of Salina; son, Anthony (Heidi) Walker, of Atlanta, GA; 6 grandchildren: Jason (Patty) Cross, Greeley, CO; Tori Cross (Jeff Rogers), Boulder, CO; Sydney (Mike) Harris, Keller, TX; Griffin Moshier, Chicago, IL; Cole (Meredith) Walker, Chicago, IL; Audra (Cris) Ratliff, Lenexa, KS; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 20th at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation in Manhattan, KS with Rev. Kati Collins officiating. A private family inurnment at Sunrise Cemetery will precede the service. The family requests donations to the Good Samaritan Fund at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community, 2121 Meadowlark Rd, Manhattan, KS 66502.
