Marguerite June Beck, 81, of Manhattan passed away Tuesday, July 22nd, at Good Shepherd Hospice House. Marguerite was born in Dodge City, Kansas on June 16, 1933, to William C. and Edna (Smiley) Copp. She graduated from Kinsley High School in 1951, and attended the University of Kansas before marrying William Pearson Beck on December 27, 1952 in Dodge City, at St. Cornelius Episcopal Church. For several years they lived on both coasts before moving back to Kinsley in 1956. She was a homemaker and helped in the family business. In 1990, they moved to Manhattan from Kinsley. She was a devoted member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, active in the Altar Guild and served on the Vestry for 5 years. She was also a member of Chapter DE of P.E.O., Manhattan Welcome Club, TPM Club, and former member of the Manhattan Country Club. She loved to cook, play bridge, read, listening to music and travel. Marguerite is survived by her husband Pearson of the home; a daughter Jennifer (Gary) Jones, of Manhattan; a son Michael (Shannon) Beck, of Fairway; son-in-law Randy Sawyer of Caldwell; sister Virginia Gleason of Kinsley; 7 grandchildren, Monica (Tripp) Hamby, Travis (Jessica) Sawyer, Johnna (Matt) Fleming, Brett Jones, Brooklyn Beck, Sydney Beck and William Beck and 3 great grandchildren, Austyn Hamby, Avery Hamby and Jackson Sawyer. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Barbara Sawyer. Visitation will be on Friday, July 25, at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 601 Poyntz Ave, Manhattan, at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 26th, with Father Patrick Funston officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
