Maria Louisa Collado Lomibao

September 7, 1952 — July 12, 2024

The world lost a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Maria Louisa Collado Lomibao, on July 12, 2024. Maria Louisa fought a 4-year battle with lung cancer, but it never diminished her strength, faith, and love – She was a devoted Catholic and was fiercely protective of those she loved. Maria Louisa died in her home surrounded by her husband, her two children, three of her brothers and their families. Maria Louisa was born in Dagupan City, in the Philippines on September 7, 1952. She was the second of 12 children, learning the value of hard work and determination from her own loving parents, Cesar and Juanita Collado.



Maria Louisa worked as a custodial specialist at Kansas State University for over 20 years, before finally retiring in 2016. Her colleagues and various students knew her as a kind soul, always smiling and striking up fun conversations, forever leaving her imprint on those she interacted with.


A loving and devoted husband survive Maria Louisa: Wilfredo of Manhattan, Kansas; her two grateful children and their spouses Lowell Jhim and Holly of Wichita, Kansas, and Marie-Lou and Chris (Meyer) of Wichita, Kansas; her four grandchildren who brought her so much joy: Emilee Anne, Alesia Grace, Braden Mahal, and Alexander Travis; her two sisters, seven brothers, her nieces and nephews, and by many dear friends she considered being family.


She was preceded in death by both her parents, her older brother Victorio and a younger brother Gabriel.

Her nearest and dearest are invited to say a final goodbye to Maria Louisa at Irvin Park View Funeral Home in Manhattan, Kansas on July 15th from 6 to 8 p.m.


A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Junction City, Kansas. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery.


Proceeding the internment, a luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus in Junction City, Kansas.
