Mary Evelyn (Messick) McAdams, 90, died Saturday, October 29th, 2016 in Manhattan at Via Christi Village Healthcare. A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. November 26 at Via Christi Village. Family will receive visitors at 10 a.m. preceding the service. She was loving, generous and caring to the end of her life. Mary was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a great cook--her cinnamon rolls, frosted sugar cookies and Christmas candies were enjoyed by her family throughout the years. Mary had a ready smile and always enjoyed talking to people. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were the center of her life. Mary was born October 11, 1926 in Home, Ks, daughter of Fred and May (Stewart) Binggeli and graduated from Marysville High School in 1944. She worked as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell where she met her future sister-in-law who played matchmaker for Mary and her brother Bud. She married Francis (Bud) Messick and raised two children. During this time Mary was a homemaker eventually working at City Sewing Co. Her husband died in 1975, and Mary later married Harlan McAdams of Western, Nebraska where they resided until his death in 1999. She enjoyed being part of the community and living on the farm with Harlan where they hosted many Sunday dinners spending time with her children, their families and others who came to visit. Mary returned to Marysville where she lived until moving to Via Christi Village in Manhattan in 2010. Survivors are daughter Sharon (Mike) Fincham of Manhattan; granddaughter Megan (Shannon) Stephenson of Blue Springs, Missouri; granddaughter Callie Messick and grandson Nick Messick of Omaha, Nebraska; sister Bonnie Hall of Baldwin, Michigan; sister-in-law Mary Harrison of Sierra Vista, Arizona; great-grandchildren Marie Kurucz, Maisy Kurucz, Lincoln Stephenson and Gracie Novotny; many nieces and nephews.
