Mary Florine 'Flo' (James) Olds, 100, of Manhattan, KS, formerly of Arkansas City, KS passed away Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, KS. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. January 21, 2015, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Winfield, KS. Friends may greet the family 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Flo was born July 24, 1914, to Charles E. and Della R. (Boley) James in Pauline, KS. She was reared and educated around the El Dorado area and attended high school in Burns, KS. On July 2, 1934, she married Roscoe 'Rock' Edward Olds in Newton, KS. The couple made their home in Beaumont, KS until Rock was drafted to war. They later moved to Arkansas City where she worked at Penny's, Newman's Department Store, and managed the Peter Pan Ice Cream Store. Flo enjoyed fishing, playing bridge, bowling, and was a member of TOPS 151. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Truitt and husband Bob of Manhattan, KS; son Danny Olds and wife Rhonda of Harlingen, TX; sister Dorothy Becker of Livermore, CA; grandchildren, Sondra Huey and husband James of Manhattan, KS; Rob Truitt and wife Tara of Wamego, KS; Danny Olds Jr. and wife Kim of Blackhawk, CA; Kelly Olds Brown of Thorton, CO; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Dalton Huey, Cheyenne Deyo, Brian LeGrand, Danielle Schoberg, Ryan Brown, Taylor Olds, Sydney Olds, and numerous nieces and nephews. Flo was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rock, four brothers, John, Claude, Banjo, Robert, and a sister Ruby Pike. A memorial has been established with the Arkansas City Senior Citizens Center or Donors Choice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
