Maurita M. Sesler

June 24, 1928 — August 10, 2012

Maurita M. Sesler, 84, of Manhattan, passed away Fri., August 10 at the Good Shephard Hospice House after a year's battle with cancer. Born June 24, 1928 to Raymond and Mary Ferguson, and was married to Robert G. Sesler on May 21, 1949, he proceeded her in death on Jan. 15, 1991. Maurita was a stay at home mother who cared for her husband and three daughters. She was a selfless volunteer at the Breadbasket, Senior Center, Manhattan Public Library and Mercy Hospital. She was truly interested in the lives of other people. Mom enjoyed laughing telling jokes and making other laugh. She also loved gardening, sewing, baking, an avid birdwatcher, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing pitch, going to bingo and the casino. Survivors include daughters, Cindy (Bill) Dougherty of Olsburg, Deborah Sesler and Kathy (Dennis) Goscha both of Topeka; a brother Earl Ferguson of Tulsa, OK. She was proceeded in death by her parents and a younger brother, Norman. In accordance with Maurita's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be at a later date.
