Miriam Glee Eggers

Miriam Glee Eggers, 81, of Manhattan, passed away September 19, 2017. Glee was a lifelong Kansan. She was born May 16, 1936, the daughter of the late James T. and Mildred McAuley. She grew up in the Kansas City area and received her bachelor's degree from Kansas State University. Glee and Raleigh Eggers were married on June 7, 1958, and enjoyed 59 years of marriage. In the early 1970s, Glee earned her master's degree in library science from Emporia State University. She served the students of Junction City Senior High School as librarian for 25 years, retiring in 1994. In retirement she enjoyed her family and friends, travel, gardening, horseback riding, genealogy and good books. Glee is survived by her husband, Raleigh, of the home; daughter, Gail Borelli (Lance Logsdon) of Kansas City, Missouri; two sons, Bruce (Jacqueline Counts) Eggers of Lawrence and Lane Eggers of Junction City, Oregon; a sister, Karen (Jim) Pate of Port Townsend, Washington; and a brother, Jim McAuley of Los Angeles. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Paige Smith, Miranda Borelli, Taryn Borelli, Keil Eggers and Kane Eggers. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 22,at the Ashland Community Church, 2151 W 32nd Ave., Manhattan, with the Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating. The family requests any donations be directed to the Ashland Community Church and may be forwarded to the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, 1317 Poyntz, Manhattan.
