Nancy Colleen (Helvie) Brown, 81, of Manhattan, KS passed away Monday, January 8th, at Via Christi Village. she held many positions at Memorial hospital in Manhattan. She later worked as a greeter at the Manhattan Wal-Mart. Nancy was born in Wichita on August 20, 1936, to Clara (Schweer) and Walter Helvie. On June 26, 1955, she married the love of her life Don Brown, who survives of the home.They were married at West Side Church of God in Wichita. Together they had five children Terry Lynn Brown, of Emporia; four sons, Donald Lynn (Shari Schroeder) Brown, of Richmond, MO; Daniel Lynn (Sherry) Brown, of Abilene; David Lynn (Susan) Brown, of Manhattan and Ronald Lynn Brown, who is deceased; a sister, Karen (Gary) Taton, of Satana, KS; two brothers, Ronald (Lois) Helvie, of Maize; Phil (Luann) Helvie, of Colorado Springs, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and her step mother: Dorothy Helvie of Wichita; and is preceded in death by her parents, and a son Ronald Lynn Brown. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 12th at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation in Manhattan. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13th at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Bentley, KS with Rev. Forest Cornwell officiating. The family will host a 'Celebration of Life' at the West Side Church of God, 1900 W McCormick St., Wichita, following the graveside service.
