Norma Elaine McNair Norma Elaine McNair, 87, of Manhattan, passed away Monday, June 22nd, peacefully, at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Manhattan for many years. Norma Elaine Peters was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on September 9, 1927, the daughter of the late William O. and Amanda C. (Buchmeier) Peters. On Dec. 6, 1947 she was united in marriage to Joe P. McNair, Sr. in Manhattan at her parents home, he passed away on March 2, 2011. She attended and was a graduate of Manhattan High School and Manhattan Area Vo-Tech as an LPN. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Manhattan. Norma is survived by a daughter, Reba Holmes, wife of Verl of Colorado Springs, CO; four sons John McNair, husband of Joanne, of Lenexa; Joe P. McNair,Jr. husband of Cara, of Overland Park; Jim McNair, of Laguna Niguel, CA; Eric McNair, of Manhattan; also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe P. McNair, Sr.; brother, Jim Peters, 2 infant sons, and a sister, Pat Peer. A memorial celebration service will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 330 Sunset Ave.,at 10:00am on Monday, July 13th, with Michael J. Schmidt, officiating. Inurnment will be at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd., Manhattan. The family request donations to the church, St. Luke's Lutheran Church 330 Sunset Ave. Manhattan, KS, in her memory.
