Norman Dale ('Norm') Prockish Norman Dale Prockish, 83, lifelong resident of Manhattan, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS. Norman was born on December 29, 1932 in Manhattan to the late Sylvester 'Butch' F. and Sylvia Mae (Green) Prockish. Norm attended the schools in Manhattan graduating in 1950 from Manhattan High School. On Sept. 25, 1955 he was united in marriage to Edith 'Eilene' Daharsh at the 1st United Methodist Church in Americus, KS. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman 1st Class during the Korean War until his honorable discharge on Nov. 23, 1953 at Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta, GA. In 1987 after 34 years of civil service he retired as a Supervisory Equipment Specialist, Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Team, Ft. Riley, KS. Norm and Eilene were charter members of Blue Valley Memorial United Methodist Church in Manhattan, and Norman served on the Board of Trustees. He was also active in the Elks Lodge #1185; American Legion Post #17; Executive Director of Manhattan Bowling Association; Secretary for Kansas Bowling Council; member of Kansas Bowling Hall of Fame; managing board of Kansas Young American Bowling Alliance; Past Scout Master - Blue Valley Church Troop #77; Cub Master for Pack # 277 and an active member of Stagg Hill Golf Course. Survivors include his wife Eilene of the home; a daughter, Barbara Anne, Topeka; four sons David L. and fianc Lisa Jonas, Jerry D. and wife Teri, John M., James A. and wife Cheryl, all of Manhattan; a sister, Patricia L. Petty, of Manhattan; two granddaughters, Danielle Prockish & Jessica Prockish; three grandsons, Eric M. Prockish, Collin C. Prockish & Brandon Pollock; two step-grandsons, Wesley (Erin) Overturf & Brandon Schremmer; one step granddaughter, Paige Jonas; three step great grandchildren, Austyn and Payton Overturf and Carter Brooks as well as many nieces and nephews. Norm was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Dillan Prockish and nephew Michael Petty. It was Norm's wishes to be cremated with A Celebration of Life service being held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 20th at Meadowlark Hills Community Center in Manhattan, with Rev. Norman Simmons officiating. Visitation with family and friends will immediately follow the service. Inurnment will be at a later date at Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
