Rev. David L. Marshall, 89 of Manhattan, Kansas passed away Friday, April 21st at his home. David Lane Marshall was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on March 14, 1928, the son of the James Earl and Emily (Furlong) Marshall. He was united in marriage to Elaine Beswick June 12, 1948, in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania and she survives of the home. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. David attended a trade school and the Bible Institute of Pennsylvania near Philadelphia. For more than 50 years he served as a missionary in Timbuktu, Mali, and Haiti. David is survived by his wife, Elaine of the home, a son, David Marshall, Jr. of Bradenton, FL.; two daughters, Sandra Schrader, of Welkom, South Africa; Diane Cable, of Manhattan and is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gordon, James, Donald and Frank and a granddaughter Stephanie Marshall. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 28th at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home in Manhattan, with Pastor Brian Anderson of the Faith Evangelical Free Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 27th at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home Manhattan. Burial will be on May 2, 2017, at 10: AM at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery with US Navy Funeral Honors. A memorial fund has been established in David’s name for the school he started in Haiti.
