Robert Lee Thomas Sr.

Robert Lee Thomas, Sr, 83, formerly of Alta Vista passed away Saturday, August 26th, in Council Grove. Born at Bunkerhill, Kansas, on January 4, 1934, Robert Lee Thomas was the son of the late Lola Fern (Hawk) and Chancy Lee Thomas. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Cassia County. Following his service, he was employed as a draftsman with the J.B. Ehrsam Manufacturing Company in Enterprise, Kansas. Bob worked at Ft. Riley in the Housing Department until his retirement in 1988, after 20 years in civil service, to become a full-time farmer in the Alta Vista area. He attended the Simpson United Methodist Church and was a member of the Alta Vista Masonic Lodge #252. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 8, 2017, at 10 A. M. at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery with Navy Military Honors and Masonic Rites. The family requests any donations be directed to Morris Co. 4-H, 501 W. Main St., Council Grove.
