Roosevelt Nash, 71, of Manhattan, passed away Sunday, July 26th, at his residence. He was a retired mail carrier at the Manhattan Post Office for eleven years, and was retired from the US Army after 21 yrs of service to his country. Roosevelt Nash was born in Ferndale, Michigan on December 7, 1943, the son of the late Woodrow Nash and Lola Mae (Jackson) Nash. He received his GED from Roosevelt High School in Inkster, MI. Roosevelt was united in marriage to Dolores Redmond on April 16, 1970 in Clovis NM, and she survives of the home. He and Dolores were members of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Roosevelt served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean for 4 years and the Vietnam War for 3 tours, he was also at Ft. Hood TX, Ft. Sill, OK, 2 tours in Germany. Roosevelt was a member of the Pearce-Keller American Legion Post No. 17, Veterans of Foreign War Post 1786, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 28, all of Manhattan. Roosevelt is survived by his wife Dolores of the home; two daughters, Vanikol R. (Latonio) Whiitehead, of Winston, GA; Meschell R. Nash, of Snellville, GA; a son,Michael R. (Yanely) Nash, of Salina, He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Katie Johnson, Donovan Nash. Michael Jones, Tiandra Nash, Stormi Nash, Ebony Nash, Ayala Nash, Tayvon Nash, Daeshaun Nash, Marquize Nash, Giselle Nash, Anahyssa Nash, Julissa Nash, Leeya Whitehead, Leea Whitehead; three brothers, Hewlett (Lois) Nash, of Beggs, OK; Leonard Nash, of Tulsa, Ricky Von Nash, of Tulsa, and last but not least, their guide dog May... He was preceded in death by his parents, a son - Ronald Nash,who died October 25, 2005, 3 brothers Eugene Nash, Freddie Nash and Johnie Higgins; a sister, Ernestine Row, and his stepmother, Rose Nash. Friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31 from 8:00am to 8:00pm and from 6:00 to 8:00pm with the family present at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation, 1317 W. Poyntz Ave. A funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, at 10:00am on Saturday, August 1st, with Rev. Helen Hutchison officiating.
