Rosa Lee Jones

Rosa Lee Jones, 69, Manhattan, KS, Monday, August 25th, at Mercy Regional Health Center. Rosa Lee Kleinschmidt was born in Herington, KS on September 14, 1944, the daughter of the late Clemens Karl Ernest and Esther Viola (Schlesener) Kleinschmidt. Rosa was united in marriage to John H. Jones on July 22, 1962 at the St. John's Lutheran Church at Lyons Creek, rural Herington. Rosa was a graduate of the Herington High School where she was a member of the alumni and a Herington Home Coming Queen, she graduated from Ft. Hays St. University receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics; she received her Masters Degree from Kansas State University in Early Childhood Education and attended Oklahoma State University in Consumer Education while working on her Doctorate. She currently was the WIA Grant coordinator for USD 383 Manhattan and she had worked as a Para Educator, a Substitute teacher. In the past she taught at Moundridge, Ks, Ft. Hays State University, McPherson High School and developed and taught the Outreach courses program for many public & private schools in Kansas (KWU, Bethany, McPherson, etc.). She was a member of College Avenue United Methodist Church, Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, PEO Chapter IL, KSU Teacher Ambassador and Riley County Council of Social Service Agencies Rosa is also survived by a daughter, Jacqueline B. (Brad S.) Palmateer, of Manhattan, KS; a son,John C. Jones, of Manhattan, KS; a sister, Marjorie (Barry) Thacker, of Herington; two brothers, Jerry Kleinschmidt, of Herington; Dale Kleinschmidt, of Herington; a grandson: Monty Palmateer and a granddaughter: Hunter Palmateer both of Manhattan as well as many many nieces & nephews. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday and Thursday from 9am-8pm at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation. The family will be present on Thursday evening, Aug. 28 from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Services will be at 10:00am on Friday, August 29th at the College Avenue United Methodist, with Rev. Larry Fry officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery at Lyons Creek, Herington, KS. The family request donations to College Avenue United Methodist Church Building Fund 1609 College Ave Manhattan, KS 66502 or St. John's Lutheran Church at Lyons Creek, rural Herington.
