Rosemary C. Snyder, 94, of Manhattan, Kansas, mother of William, Robert and Mary, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Good Shepherd Hospice House. Rosemary was born June 25, 1918 in Atchison, Kansas to Jesse and Mary Chapman. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1935 with Honors. In the summer of 1936, she met the Love of Her life, Veryle Snyder at the SBA Hospital picnic where they both worked, after a five year courtship, they were married May 17, 1941. This union provided them with three children, Bill of Manhattan, Bob of Manhattan, and Mary Martha of Arkansas City. Rosemary was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother. Rosemary and Veryle owned and operated The Putt-Putt Golf Course in Manhattan for over 25 years. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed playing cards especially bridge and cribbage. She loved to read, garden, knit, and watch TV. Rosemary and her family spent summers in Colorado fixing up the 'Family Cabin.' During retirement, she spent winters in the Arizona sunshine and during the cold weather she spent her months in Kansas. She was active in the First Christian Church and was a life member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her sister, Ida Davis of Chapman, her children Bill, Bob, and Mary, grandchild Sonya Disidore, Paul Snyder and Kayla Sparks, five great-grandchildren and many friends. Her husband, Veryle and Rosemary were married 47 years until his death in 1989. They were reunited April 30, 2013 in Heaven. A memorial service will be held 10:30am, Friday, May 3 at The First Christian Church, 115 Courthouse Plaza in Manhattan with the direction of Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation. Any memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas and left in the care of Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home.
