Theonne Katherine Carter

November 19, 1932 — February 4, 2013

Theonne Katherine Carter, 80, of Manhattan, passed away Monday, February 4th, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan. Theonne Wolters was born in Atchison, Kansas on November 19, 1932, she is a daughter of the late Theodore J. and Katherine R. (Whalen) Wolters. In 1950, she graduated from the Convent of The Sacred Heart in St. Joseph, and attended 1 year at the Catholic Girls School (Mt. Saint Scholastica College) in Atchison. On February 13, 1954, she married William C. Carter, in Junction City, who died on Nov 18, 2003. Theonne was a Budget Assistant for the Civil Service at Fort Riley, for 42 years, in her spare time she volunteered at the Pearce-Keller Post 17 American Legion during bingo. Theonne is also survived by a sister, Kathleen (Lee) Woodsmall, of Gladstone, Missouri; a brother, Richard Wolters, of Junction City and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents & husband William 'Bill' Carter. A funeral service will be held at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation, on Friday, February 8th at 11:00am with Father Don Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be at Sunrise Cemetery on a later date. Friends are invited to call Friday prior to the service from 10:00am to 11:00am at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation, 1317 W. Poyntz Ave. The family request donations to the Good Shepherd Hospice House, 3801 Vanesta Dr., Manhattan, KS or Angels Care Home Health, 311 Fort Riley Blvd, Manhattan, KS 66502. Contributions may also be left in the care of Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation.
