Thomas J. 'Tom' McIntyre Thomas Jay McIntyre, 66, of Manhattan, passed away Tuesday, March 25th, at Mercy Regional Health Center. He was retired from the US Army, and as a police officer for KSU. Thomas was born in Hoopston, IL on December 4, 1947, the son of the late Ida (Goin) Mackin and Arthur L. McIntyre, Sr. On November 28, 2008 in Manhattan at Ramblers Stake House, in the band stand area, he was united in marriage to Sharon Lunsford, who survives him of their home. Tom served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sgt. during the Vietnam War. He loved drag racing, fishing at Tuttle Creek, and spending time with his family, was a graduate of the Danville, IL High School and attended KSU for 2 years. Thomas is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home; five daughters, Jennifer (Dale) Mantz, of Lawrence; Stephanie Mendez, of El Paso, TX; Sarah Waskey, of Manhattan; Michelle (Raymond) Mason, of Fort Dix, New Jersey and Rebecca (Matthew) Williams, of Wamego; a son, Anthony Hathaway, of Hutchinson; a step brother, Kevin (Charlene) Mackin, of Florida, 12 grandchildren and many more friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur 'Mac' L. McIntyre Jr. and Edward McIntyre. At the family's request there will be no visitation or services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tom J. McIntyre Memorial Fund c/o the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home and Cremation, 1317 W. Poyntz Ave., Manhattan.
