Tinh Xuan Hoang Tinh Xuan Hoang, 88, of Manhattan, passed away Wednesday morning August 9th, at Stormont-Vail Medical Center in Topeka. Tinh was born in Quang Tri, Hue, Vietnam, October 12, 1928, son of the late Vi Thi Nguyen and Tan Xuan Hoang. On May 13, 1955, in Vietnam, he was united in marriage to the late Lai Thi Le. In 1975, during the height of the fall of Saigon, he left his beloved South Vietnam to secure the future and freedom for his family in America where he retired from Kansas State University’s Department of Grain Science. During his earlier years in Vietnam, he received a Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering and was employed as an Executive for ESSO Petroleum in Nha Trang. He also studied in the seminary in Vietnam at Hue Seminaries. When arriving in Manhattan he attended and graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics. Tinh is survived by his 6 sons: Alexis Hoang and wife Frankie, Topeka; Hung Hoang and wife Rosa, The Colony, TX; Viet Hoang, Manhattan; Binh Hoang and wife Brenda, Manhattan; Thai Hoang and wife Chinn, CA; Khanh Hoang and wife Jennifer, of Olathe. In addition, 3 daughters: Dee Dieuhoung Quila and husband Ismael, The Colony, TX; Huyentram Leach and husband Eric, Canton, Canton GA; Mylinh Hoang and husband Anthony, Lake Dallas TX. Also, surviving are his 26 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, August 11th at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home with the family receiving friends starting at 6:00 pm prior to the service. At 10:00 am on Saturday, August 12th a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church with Fr. Merlin Kieffer officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunrise Cemetery. The family requests donations to Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 221 S. Juliette Manhattan.
