Violet May (Keck) Kelley; Born December 22, 1929, in Oketo KS, passed away at the age of 91 on October 11, 2021, in Topeka KS. She was raised on a farm near Oketo in Marshall County with ten siblings. Her many jobs included gathering eggs and keeping the kindling box full. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton (Doc) Kelley, married March 13, 1948, with two infants and one daughter Christina Kay Diaz. She is survived by: a sister, Hazel (Kelley) (Arlo) Janzen, Hesston KS. Brother, Robert Keck (Shirley), Mona Utah. Four daughters, Phyllis (John) Hupe, Westmoreland, KS, Connie Diggs, Lyons, KS, Kathleen (Mike) Eden, Topeka, KS, Karen McWhirt, (Steve), Lawrence, KS. Twelve grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, twenty-eight great, great-grandchildren, and two great, great, great-grandchildren. Violet was a homemaker, made the best pancakes ever, a house Mother for a State Home for Boys, did laundry for Rebecca’s Lodge, and cooked for a sorority in Manhattan, KS. Some of the historical events in her life span included the Great Depression/Dustbowl, World War II, First Moon Landing, Assassinations of John F Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home will provide graveside services on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at 11:00 am at Sunrise Cemetery, 2901 Stagg Hill Rd., Manhattan, KS In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate donations to offset funeral costs. They may be left with the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home.
