Virginia Susan Gamble, 66, of Manhattan, passed away Wednesday, May 9th, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan. Virginia Susan Escobar was born in Manhattan, on November 26, 1945, the daughter of the late Susie (Negrete) Escobar and Joseph Domingo Escobar. She grew up in Manhattan, and graduated from Manhattan High School in 1963. Jeanie was united in marriage to Alton 'Al' 'Deno' G. Gamble on January 24, 1968 in the Catholic Chapel at Fort Riley, and he survives her of the home. From 1969-1998 they lived in California where she worked for TRW Aeronautical Systems, which develops engine controls for military and civil aircrafts, as an electrical technician for 10 years. She also worked for Honda Motors in California as a secretary for about 7 years. When they moved back to Manhattan in 1998 she was a receptionist for a local dentist from 1998-2001. She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan. Jeanie's greatest times were watching her children and grandchildren during sporting and family events. Jeanie is also survived by her two sons Todd & Cindy Gamble, and Ryan and Natalie Gamble both of Manhattan; two sisters, Mary Manwering, of Manhattan, Sara and Joe Stiener, Lecompton; two brothers, Phil Escobar, of Manhattan, and Michael Escobar, of Arizona. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Kayla, Ayana and Roman Gamble. Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Josephine Martinez. A rosary will be held prior to the service at 9:30am on Monday, May 14th, at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church and with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:00am, with Father Joe Popelka officiating, burial will follow at the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
