Werner Carl Wilheim Herbertz, 82, of Manhattan, passed Saturday, March 22nd, at Good Shepherd Hospice House. He was retired after 26 years from the U.S. Army as a Master Sgt. and owner of the Veterans Painting Service for 15 years. He was noted for his elaborate hand writting style. Herb was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 8, 1931, the son of the late Olga (Hausen) and Hjalmer Carl Herbertz. On Sept. 26, 1935 at Detroit, MI he married Marjorie Ann (Riley) Herbertz, who died on April 12, 1999. Surivors include a son, Jeff A. Herbertz, of Breckenridge, Colo. and a granddaughter Stephanie Herbertz also of Breckenridge. At the family's request there will be no services, or visitation as cremation has been chosen. Inurnment will be at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Manhattan, KS. Family request donations to the donor's choice.
